Rishini Weeraratne, an accomplished media professional, has been recognised with the Corporate and Professional Sector Award at the Sri Lanka Vanithabhimana 2025 Awards, an event celebrating trailblazing Sri Lankan women who create lasting social and economic impact.
The selection was made by a distinguished panel of 11 judges, chaired by Senior Prof. H.D. Karunaratne, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo. Rishini was honoured for her visionary leadership and significant contributions to the media industry.
Currently serving as Editor of The Sun (Daily Mirror), Editor of HI!! Online, and Head of Social Media at Wijeya Newspapers Ltd, Rishini has spearheaded transformative digital strategies across leading news platforms. She is also the author of She Can, a widely read column dedicated to women’s empowerment.
As Rishini is currently overseas, her mother Sharika Weeraratne graciously accepted the award on her behalf.
