Dubai, UAE – In a groundbreaking step towards the future of smart travel, Dubai International Airport has launched the world’s first AI-powered passenger corridor, allowing travellers to cross passport control in seconds without presenting travel documents.
The new system was unveiled by Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai.
Passengers now simply walk across the “red carpet” passageway, bypassing traditional passport checks. Unlike conventional systems that process one passenger at a time, the corridor can accommodate up to ten travellers simultaneously, dramatically improving efficiency and reducing waiting times.
Al Marri highlighted that Dubai International Airport, ranked the world’s busiest for international flights for 11 consecutive years, is not merely a transit hub but also a global gateway showcasing the UAE’s innovation.
“This service is the first of its kind worldwide, part of an integrated system designed to bring the concept of ‘travel without borders’ to life,” he said.
The initiative leverages advanced artificial intelligence to fully automate identity checks. Suspicious documents are automatically flagged and referred to forgery experts, ensuring both speed and security. The system also identifies passenger data before travellers reach the checkpoint, further streamlining the process.
Al Marri stressed that the GDRFA’s long-term vision is centred on integrating cutting-edge technologies to revolutionise the travel experience, while maintaining the highest security standards.
Passengers have already expressed admiration for the innovation, praising the corridor for its speed, convenience, and seamless performance, describing it as a major leap forward in air travel.
With this pioneering move, Dubai once again reinforces its reputation as a civilised, future-ready city and a global leader in travel innovation.
