Canada Defeat Ireland 47-26 in Final Warm-Up Ahead of Rugby World Cup

Dublin, Ireland – Canada’s women’s rugby team ended their Rugby World Cup preparations on a high note, defeating hosts Ireland 47-26 in their final warm-up match.

The dominant performance showcased the depth and skill of the Canadian squad, featuring standout contributions from captain Sophie de Goede (Victoria, BC – Castaway Wanderers / Saracens) and veteran lock Tyson Beukeboom (Uxbridge, ON – Cowichan Piggies / Aurora Barbarians / Ealing Trailfinders).

The starting XV also included experienced internationals like Paige Farries (Red Deer, AB – Saracens) and Alexandra Tessier (Sainte-Clotilde-de-Horton, QC – Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue RFC / Exeter Chiefs), with impact players from the bench such as Emily Tuttosi (Souris, MB – Calgary Hornets / Exeter Chiefs) and Olivia Apps (Lindsay, ON – Lindsay RFC).

The victory comes as Rugby Canada continues its Mission: Win Rugby World Cup 2025 fundraising drive. Launched in March, the campaign aims to raise $1 million to close a funding gap and provide the team with world-class resources. With over 88% of the goal already pledged, Rugby Canada is calling on supporters to help complete the mission before the tournament.
