HSBC has once again been recognised as the Best International Bank in Sri Lanka in Euromoney’s Awards for Excellence 2025, marking its second consecutive win.
The award celebrates HSBC’s advancements in digital banking, achieving 98% digital penetration in cash management and 84% in trade transactions through HSBCNet, alongside a fully digital account opening process. The bank also made strides in corporate sustainability, supporting 8,000 rural schoolchildren through English teacher training, and empowering over 150 women entrepreneurs via seed funding with Sarvodaya Fusion.
HSBC further led in sustainable finance, launching Sri Lanka’s first sustainability-linked trade loan and conducting US $149 million in sustainability-aligned transactions. Environmental efforts included a collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature to restore 125 hectares of degraded land.
HSBC Sri Lanka CEO Mark Surgenor attributed the recognition to the trust of clients and the team’s dedication, reinforcing HSBC’s leadership in international banking.
Regionally, HSBC also secured major wins across Asia, including Asia’s Best Bank for Large Corporates, and Best International Bank in countries such as China, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
