Sri Lankan batter Kusal Mendis has been approached by Nottinghamshire for a short-term role in England’s County Championship.
According to the sources, the move comes as Nottinghamshire seek a replacement for Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who recently completed his stint with the club. Mendis’ participation is subject to clearance from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
While Sri Lankan bowlers have often featured in county cricket, opportunities for batters remain limited. A stint in English conditions could offer Mendis valuable red-ball experience.
Both Nottinghamshire and SLC have yet to issue official confirmations regarding the deal.
