Indian actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar arrives in Sri Lanka for film shoot

Renowned South Indian actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday morning (June 17) to take on the lead role in the upcoming film “Cage Bird”, which is being produced locally and is slated for international release.

The film is directed and produced by veteran Sri Lankan filmmaker Chandran Rathnam, and aims to gain recognition on the global cinema stage.

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar landed at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport at 11:04 a.m. via SriLankan Airlines flight UL-122 from Chennai, India.

She was warmly received at the Silk Route terminal by Harendra Wijewardene, Deputy Director of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, and Chaminda Munasinghe, Assistant Director of the Bureau’s International Filmmaking and Promotion Division.

Her participation is expected to bring international attention to the Sri Lankan film industry and promote the country as a destination for global film production.
