Sri Lanka has pledged its full support to ensure the successful hosting of the Global Dawoodi Bohra Community’s Spiritual Assembly and Convention, scheduled to take place later this month in Colombo, the President’s Media Division said.
Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, instructed relevant officials to provide the maximum assistance necessary for the event’s smooth organisation. These directives were issued during a special discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat regarding preparations for the upcoming conference and convention.
The event, which will be held from 27 June to 5 July, is expected to draw approximately 15,000 members of the Dawoodi Bohra Community from India and several other countries. The spiritual assembly and related conventions will be centred at the Bambalapitiya Bohra Mosque and the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC).
The meeting addressed logistical arrangements, including airport reception facilities, accommodation, security, and other infrastructure requirements to accommodate the large influx of international delegates.
Also in attendance were a group of the Bohra Community’s members, Secretary to the Foreign Ministry Aruni Ranaraja, Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage, and several other senior officials.
The government’s proactive involvement reflects its commitment to supporting religious and cultural gatherings that foster international goodwill and religious harmony in Sri Lanka, the PMD said in a statement.
