Dutch Firm to Design Future of Sri Lanka’s Main Airport

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the awarding of a key consultancy contract to M/s Haskoning DHV Nederland B.V., a Netherlands-based airport consultancy firm, for the preparation of the master plan for Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

The selection follows a renewed procurement process initiated by Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited, after the previously awarded contract was cancelled due to non-compliance by the selected firm.

The new process was conducted under International Competitive Bidding procedures, and Haskoning DHV was the sole bidder.

Following a thorough evaluation by the Consultation Procurement Committee appointed by the Cabinet, the Dutch firm was recommended for the project.

The proposal was formally presented by the Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, and subsequently approved by the Cabinet. (News 1st)
