Parts of Australia are bracing for a week of rain and colder temperatures, with Perth expecting heavy showers tomorrow and Wednesday. Rainfall totals could reach up to 50mm over three days, marking the city’s wettest period of 2025 so far, despite below-average rain since the start of the year.
While the rain in Perth will ease by tomorrow, temperatures are expected to remain mild.
On the east coast, a cold front will sweep through today, bringing a significant drop in temperatures and the first real winter chill to western and northern New South Wales and southern Queensland. The front may extend northward, bringing rain to northeastern NSW as well.
The alpine regions are forecast to see a light snowfall over the coming days. Later this week, a polar airmass could sweep into southeastern Australia, possibly dumping heavy snow in the highest alpine areas.
Weatherzone cautions that this snow system could be unpredictable, but signs point to the snow season’s official start next week being accompanied by steady snowfall.
