Sri Lankan cricket legend Asanka Gurusinha, a key member of the 1996 ICC World Cup-winning team, has taken on a new coaching role in Australia. He has been appointed as the Development Coach for Dandenong Cricket Club, a prominent team within Victoria’s Premier Cricket competition.
In this new role, Gurusinha will focus on mentoring emerging talent and leading the club’s Under-18 team as part of the Premier Cricket Pathway. His extensive international experience and strategic insight are expected to play a crucial role in strengthening the club’s youth development program.
Known for his calm demeanor and technical skill as a top-order batsman, Gurusinha’s move reflects a growing trend of former international players contributing to grassroots cricket in Australia. His appointment is seen as a significant boost for the club and a valuable opportunity for young cricketers to learn from one of Sri Lanka’s most respected sportsmen.
