Sri Lanka will take South Korea to kick-start the 2025 Asia Rugby Men’s Championship on 14 June in Colombo.
The game is scheduled to be played at the Racecourse International Stadium in Colombo.
Sri Lanka officially joined Asia’s elite after defeating Malaysia 59–19 in the Asia Rugby Men’s Championship Playoff in April.
The impressive win against Malaysia not only thrilled a packed home crowd but also secured Sri Lanka’s promotion back to the continent’s top division, marking a major milestone in their journey toward Rugby World Cup 2027 qualification.
Sri Lanka also played two games against the visiting New Zealand under-85 team in the past few weeks.
Following the opening game at home, Sri Lanka is set to take on Hong Kong China at the Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground on 22 June.
The Hong Kong China representative men’s team will feature in the four-team round robin tournament as defending champions, and have won the last five consecutive Asia Rugby titles.
Sri Lanka is scheduled to conclude the tournament against the United Arab Emirate in a game to be played in Colombo on 4 July.
This year’s tournament has added significance as the winner will earn a spot at Rugby World Cup 2027.
The runner-up will be given a second chance to qualify via an Asia/Africa Play-off and Final Qualification Tournament.
