Every minute, a child in Australia is admitted to hospital—often receiving life-altering news. For many of these children, hospital becomes their new normal. That’s why the Starlight Children’s Foundation is here: to bring laughter, hope, and joy when they need it most.
This Starlight Day (Tuesday, May 20), the Foundation is launching its biggest national fundraising appeal. The goal? To raise $1.3 million by the end of June to support over 33,000 seriously ill children and their families through its life-changing hospital programs.
These include:
Captain Starlight, who brings smiles to kids on hospital wards
Starlight Express Rooms, where fun replaces fear
Planet Starlight, a digital space offering joy to kids in hospital beds nationwide

400 hospital room visits every day
170,000 digital experiences expected by the end of 2025
550+ children visited daily by Captain Starlight
For families like Sian Morley’s, whose daughter Alice endured cancer treatment, Starlight made all the difference. “Captain Starlight helped her stay positive, laugh, and feel like a child again,” she shared. “Even on tough days, they brought her joy.”
Today, your donation goes twice as far. All online contributions between May 13–21 will be matched by generous donors and Mineral Resources.
