Sri Lanka Air Force Helicopter Crashes in Maduru Oya Reservoir During Drill Flight

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter tragically crashed into the Maduru Oya Reservoir earlier today, Air Force Spokesperson Group Captain Eranda Geeganage confirmed. The aircraft had taken off from the Hingurakgoda Air Force Base and was heading toward Maduru Oya to participate in a planned drill exhibition.

On board the helicopter were members of the Sri Lanka Army’s elite Special Forces unit. Further details on casualties or rescue operations are yet to be released as investigations continue.
