Anuradhapura-born model and activist aims to make a mark on the global stage
Anudi Gunasekara, a rising star in Sri Lanka’s fashion and humanitarian landscape, is set to represent the nation at the prestigious 72nd Miss World Festival, which will be held in Hyderabad, India. Born on 7 November 1999 in Anuradhapura, Anudi has swiftly become a beacon of purpose-driven beauty and ambition.
Crowned Miss World Sri Lanka 2024, Anudi’s journey to the crown has been as inspiring as it has been impactful. Alongside the coveted title, she also won the Most Popular and Best in Evening Wear mini titles, earning admiration from judges and the public alike.
A proud alumna of Anuradhapura Central College, Anudi further pursued higher education at the University of Kelaniya, graduating with a degree in International Relations. Her academic background has helped shape her into a thoughtful advocate for social change-qualities that are at the heart of the Miss World platform.

Anudi’s “Beauty with a Purpose” project, titled “Saheli”, addresses the urgent issue of period poverty in Sri Lanka. Through awareness, education, and access to sanitary products, the initiative is aimed at empowering underprivileged women and girls across the island.
Speaking ahead of her departure to India, Anudi shared an emotional message:
“In just a few days, I’ll be leaving for Hyderabad, India to represent Sri Lanka at the 72nd Miss World Festival. It’s a celebration of purpose, culture, and unity and I am beyond grateful to carry our flag with pride. As I step onto the global stage, I humbly ask for your blessings, love, and support. Let’s show the world the strength, beauty, and heart of Sri Lanka.”

As she prepares to compete against contestants from around the globe, Anudi Gunasekara carries not just the hopes of a nation but the powerful message of compassion, resilience, and Sri Lankan pride.
All eyes will be on Hyderabad as Sri Lanka cheers on one of its brightest young ambassadors.
