Dubai Dispatches 56.8 Metric Tonnes of Critical Medical Supplies to Gaza in Latest Relief Effort

In a continued show of solidarity and support, Dubai has dispatched 56.8 metric tonnes of critical medical supplies to assist emergency relief efforts in Gaza. This latest humanitarian operation was carried out under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, through Dubai Humanitarian.

The shipment, valued at over Dhs4.33 million, was flown from Dubai on 23 April aboard a B747F aircraft operated by the Dubai Air Wing, bound for El Arish Airport in Egypt. From there, the supplies will replenish medical stocks and await deployment into Gaza as soon as access is granted. The aid is expected to benefit more than 250,000 people in urgent need of medical assistance.

This mission marks the 25th airlift coordinated by Dubai Humanitarian in response to the ongoing crisis in Gaza. Giuseppe Saba, CEO and Board Member of Dubai Humanitarian, emphasized the organization’s unwavering dedication to delivering hope and critical support wherever it is needed. He stated, “Guided by the visionary leadership of Sheikh Mohammed, every shipment we send is a powerful reminder to those suffering that they are not forgotten.”

The World Health Organization (WHO) provided the essential supplies, which include specialized medications to treat trauma-related injuries and psychological conditions. Dr. Hanan Balkhy, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, acknowledged Dubai’s vital role, saying, “Thanks to Dubai Humanitarian and the Government of Dubai, we can respond swiftly to urgent health needs, delivering life-saving materials that make a critical difference.”

Since January 2025, Dubai Humanitarian has coordinated four major airlifts to El Arish, transporting nearly 256 metric tonnes of WHO medical supplies. As the world’s largest humanitarian logistics hub, Dubai Humanitarian remains deeply committed to working alongside UN agencies, NGOs, and governments to deliver rapid and efficient aid to communities facing crisis across the region and beyond.
