Intrepid Travel Group MD Brett Mitchell Flies with SriLankan Airlines

Intrepid Travel Group, the world’s largest adventure travel company, is holding its highly anticipated Global Travel Summit in Colombo from February 24th to 27th, 2025. This significant event brings together over 200 participants from Australia and around the world, marking a milestone for Sri Lanka as a key destination in global tourism.

Intrepid Travel Group has long been a leader in sustainable and adventure tourism, and this summit aims to focus on leadership, strategy, and sustainable tourism initiatives. With Sri Lanka’s popularity among Intrepid travellers soaring-visitor numbers have increased by an impressive 206% in 2024 compared to the previous year-this event further cements the country’s growing influence in the travel sector.

Brett Mitchell, Managing Director of Intrepid Travel Group Australia & New Zealand, arrived in Colombo on February 20th aboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL605 from Melbourne. He was warmly welcomed on board by the Australian team and UL605 operating crew. Expressing his enthusiasm, Brett shared his appreciation for the hospitality and service of SriLankan Airlines, a key partner in facilitating travel between Australia and Sri Lanka.

“Excited to share that Intrepid’s 2025 Global Summit is heading to Sri Lanka, where we’ll gather over 200 team members for four days of leadership, strategy, and sustainable tourism discussions. This also marks a significant milestone for Sri Lanka’s growing role in global travel and our operations,” Brett stated.

Having spent just 24 hours in Sri Lanka, Brett already recognized why the country continues to attract visitors from around the world. He acknowledged the country’s unique charm and the warm welcome extended to him and his team.

Intrepid Travel Group works closely with SriLankan Airlines to facilitate leisure travel from Australia to Sri Lanka, with direct services from Melbourne and Sydney to Colombo. This partnership has played a crucial role in boosting Sri Lanka’s tourism industry post-pandemic.
