Rampal Muthyala Hosts Border-Gavaskar Trophy Event, Enhancing Australia-India Cricket Ties

Rampal Muthyala, alongside Johann Jayasinha, a renowned multicultural community leader, recently hosted a special event promoting the upcoming Australian cricket season and the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy, supported by Cricket Australia. The event aimed to deepen cricket ties across multicultural communities, including Indian, Sri Lankan, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and Afghani groups, reinforcing the bond between these nations and Australia through the love of cricket.

Key figures from the sports and political sectors attended, making the event a major success. Among the esteemed guests were The Hon Jason Wood MP, Mr. Nick Hockley, CEO of Cricket Australia, Dr. Sushil Kumar ji, Consul General of India, Mr. Richard Welch MP, Mr. Ross Hepburn, Chairman of Cricket Victoria, and Mr. Harish Rao, Director of Cricket Victoria. Other prominent attendees included Mr. Matt Foran, Director of Strategic Intelligence at the University of Melbourne, Mr. Mark Ryan, Head of Development for Health and Education at Melbourne Business School, Mr. Tim Lee, Director of Sport at the University of Melbourne, Mr. Ian Crawford AM, Former President of Prahran Cricket Club and long-time supporter of Sri Lankan cricket, and Mr. Ken Jacobs OAM, Director of Global ISE and Former Cricket Victoria CEO.

The evening highlighted not only the forthcoming 5-test Border-Gavaskar series between Australia and India but also the important role cricket plays in bridging cultures and fostering unity. In addition to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy promotion, attendees were treated to a special showcase of the 2023 ODI World Cup trophy, courtesy of Cricket Australia. This provided a rare opportunity for guests to see the iconic trophy up close and capture memorable photos.

Rampal Muthyala expressed his gratitude to all who attended and emphasized the importance of cricket in enhancing relations between Australia and India.
