Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided to appoint former Sri Lanka cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya as the full time Head Coach of National Cricket Team for a period of one year, starting after the ongoing Test series against New Zealand.
As the interim head coach, Jayasuriya showcased his coaching abilities to motivate the team and achieve remarkable achievements as a team.
During his tenure, Sri Lanka registered a historic ODI series win over India where the islanders beat them after 27 years and managed to beat England in a Test match on English soil after 10 years.
Sri Lanka are currently leading the ongoing two-match series, 1-0 against New Zealand and almost certain to win the second Test to clean sweep the series.
