Brisbane, Australia – The tragic hit-and-run murder of 23-year-old Kiesha Thompson has led to the arrest of a second suspect. Kiesha was deliberately struck by a silver Toyota Prado after she dropped her daughter off at daycare in Daisy Hill, a suburb south of Brisbane, last Friday.
Queensland police have now charged 27-year-old Tyler Scott William James with murder, classified as a domestic violence offence. James was apprehended at Logan Central and did not appear in person during his initial court mention. He is accused of being known to Thompson, although the nature of their relationship has not been detailed by authorities. James’ solicitor requested that his case be heard alongside his co-accused, 24-year-old Larissa Rita Mae-Leigh Sant, at a committal mention on 31 July before the Beenleigh Magistrates Court.
Detective Inspector Chris Knight stated that the investigation revealed the incident was not an accident. Evidence indicated the 4WD had been lingering in the area for an extended period before the crash, reinforcing the belief that Thompson was intentionally targeted.
Kiesha Thompson was transported to the hospital following the incident but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries later that night. Her untimely death has left her family and community devastated.
In an emotional video released by the police, Thompson’s family expressed their grief. Her brother, Koby Torto, condemned the act as cowardly and senseless. Aunt Amanda Matthias described the incident as horrific, while her sister, Keyara Thompson, said the pain of losing Kiesha could not be put into words.
The family pledged to take care of Kiesha’s baby daughter, who was described as the “absolute light of her life.” They emphasized their commitment to supporting her throughout her life, ensuring that Kiesha’s love and legacy live on.
