The vibrant travel community is in mourning following the untimely death of Aanvi Kamdar, a 26-year-old Instagram influencer celebrated for her passion for monsoon tourism. On July 16, Aanvi and seven friends set out to explore the captivating Kumbhe waterfall near Maharashtra’s Raigad. Tragically, their adventure turned fatal when Aanvi slipped and fell into a 300-foot gorge while filming a reel around 10:30 am.
Aanvi, a resident of Mumbai, had garnered a significant following on social media by sharing her breathtaking explorations of nature’s wonders. Her journey to Kumbhe waterfall was intended to capture the stunning monsoon vistas of the Sahyadri ranges, an endeavor that ended in heartbreak when she lost her footing.
Authorities swiftly responded to the emergency. Local rescue teams, supported by the Coast Guard, Kolad rescue team, and Maharashtra State Electricity Board staff, initiated a six-hour operation to save Aanvi. Despite their heroic efforts and the use of a vertical pulley due to the challenging conditions, Aanvi succumbed to her injuries shortly after being brought to the Managaon sub-district hospital.
In the aftermath of this tragic incident, local officials, including the Tehsildar and Managaon police inspector, have issued a poignant appeal to tourists and citizens. They emphasize the importance of responsible tourism, urging people to enjoy nature’s beauty without engaging in risky behaviors that could endanger lives. Their message underscores the need for safety and caution while exploring the picturesque but potentially hazardous landscapes of the Sahyadri ranges.
Aanvi Kamdar’s death is a somber reminder of the thin line between capturing the splendor of nature and ensuring personal safety. Her legacy of inspiring travel posts continues to encourage adventurers to cherish and respect the natural world.
