Semini Dinusha Palihawadana (born June 19, 1973), popularly known as Semini Iddamalgoda, is a prominent actress in Sri Lankan cinema, theater, and television. Known for her versatility, she has captivated audiences with her performances in both dramas and comedies. Her notable roles include Roshini in the television sitcom “Yes Boss,” Kumari in the film “Sinhawa Atharin,” and Suddi in the film “28.”

Early Life and Education

Semini Iddamalgoda was born on June 19, 1973, in Colombo. She is the eldest child of K.M.P. Bandara and Nesta Palihawadana. She has a younger brother named Gihan Menaka. Semini’s educational journey began at Niyagama Primary School in Elpitiya.

Personal Life

Semini is married to Dhammika Jayalal Keerthi Iddamalgoda, a police officer. Dhammika, born on April 27, 1967, is the youngest of three siblings. His father, Weerasiri Kularatne Iddamalgoda, was a Co-operative Inspector and Internal Auditor, and his mother, Fransisca Jayawardane, hailed from Weralupa, Ratnapura. Dhammika studied at Sivali Central College, Ratnapura, and joined the police force in 1988 at the age of 21. Semini and Dhammika married on December 15, 1994, shortly after she completed her A/L examinations. They have one daughter, Kumali Aseka, born in 2001.

Acting Career

Semini’s entry into the entertainment industry began in 2001 when she was invited by Sriyani Amarasena to act in the teledrama “Irabatu Tharuwa.” She later starred in the stage drama “Punchi Adara Balakirima,” for which she won the Best Actress award at the state drama festival. Her first teledrama production was “Hansa Geethaya,” directed by V. Sivadasan.

Semini has showcased her acting prowess in various formats, from stage to screen. In television, she gained immense popularity with her role as Roshini in the sitcom “Yes Boss.” Her performances in films have been equally impactful, with significant roles in “Sinhawa Atharin” and “28.”

Reality TV

In addition to her acting career, Semini participated in reality television shows. She showcased her dancing skills in “Sirasa Dancing Stars” and later competed in “Hiru Mega Stars.”
