Mr. Ananda Mendis departed from us last night, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment.
Mr. Ananda’s journey with ONAA was one of unparalleled devotion and service. From its inception, he played an integral role in shaping the organization’s trajectory. As the first treasurer, his financial acumen laid the groundwork for ONAA’s stability and growth. His vision and tireless efforts propelled ONAA forward, fostering a sense of community among Nalandians in Australia.
His tenure as President, spanning from 1999 to 2000 and then from 2007 to 2010, epitomized his steadfast leadership and passion for the association’s mission. Under his guidance, ONAA flourished, becoming a beacon of solidarity and camaraderie for its members.
Beyond his official capacities, Mr. Ananda embodied the spirit of service and camaraderie. His warmth, kindness, and willingness to lend a helping hand endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was not only a leader but also a friend, mentor, and source of inspiration to many.
