Chief Technology Officer Paul Keen had faced the challenge of aligning each development squad with Tyro Payments’ roadmap, and shifting executive conversations about development from cost to value.
“Our top priority is to make sure we’re delivering the best products that our customers need and love,” Keen explained. “In a highly regulated sector, speed of delivery is a competitive advantage. So our focus is to move as efficiently as possible to deliver solutions better than our competitors.”
In this environment, efficiently managing up to 45 product and technology changes per day is crucial. “We wanted to be able to track all activity and see both the effort and the cost of that,” said Keen. “And secondly, we wanted to track the complex projects in a much more defined, centralised, automated way.”

He also welcomed the solution’s flexibility. “We can continue to improve, we can add columns, we can remove things, we can add reports rather than waiting for somebody else’s tool to see if there’s a report that may work for us.”

The solution gave Keen real time insights into how each squad and the development team overall was tracking in relation to its product roadmaps. In addition, it presented the value created by development teams rather than treating them as a cost centre.
“We’ve seen a transformation in project delivery across the business,” he said. “Rather than showing old PowerPoint slides [in executive team meetings], we’re now able to show monday.com as a live reporting structure. It’s a big change for the business, but it allows us to answer questions by drilling into the detail.”
