Bhavesh Lakhatariya –  From IT Student to Celebrity Hairdresser

Bhavesh Lakhatariya’s inspiring journey from struggling IT student to a celebrated hairdresser highlights the importance of resilience, adaptability, and a passion for helping others, making him a beacon of success within the Indian community in Australia.

Bhavesh Lakhatariya, a name synonymous with exceptional hairdressing and beauty services in Victoria, is the proud owner of two successful salons in Hawthorn (since 2009) and Tregenna (since 2016). With a deep connection to the Indian community, Bhavesh has spent the last 15 years helping new immigrants find jobs, accommodation, and settle into their new lives in Australia. His passion for helping others extends to his involvement in charity events and sponsorships for numerous community, cultural, and sporting events.

Bhavesh’s salons have styled many celebrities, including Indian cricketers and Bollywood stars, making him a sought-after hairdresser. During the pandemic, he provided essential items to students in need, showcasing his unwavering commitment to his community.

Arriving in Australia in 2005 on a student visa, Bhavesh pursued a Masters in Information Technology at Swinburne University, Melbourne. Despite initial setbacks, including failing his first-year subjects, he decided to pivot his career to hairdressing, a family trade back in India. Completing his degree with flying colors at TAFE Carrick Institute in Melbourne, Bhavesh opened his first salon in 2009, overcoming financial challenges with a business loan.

Today, Bhavesh employs over 25 professionals and plans to expand further. His salons have become a favorite among Indian celebrities visiting Australia, including cricketers like Rishabh Pant and Bollywood stars like Govinda and Shreya Ghoshal. Bhavesh’s dedication to providing top-notch services and hospitality has earned him a reputation as a friend and confidant to these celebrities.

Bhavesh aims to bridge the gap between the Indian community in Australia and visiting celebrities, offering them not only hairdressing services but also a taste of home. His journey from IT student to renowned hairdresser exemplifies resilience and the pursuit of passion.
