Applications Open for Academic Courses in India

The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka has officially announced the opening of applications for academic courses in India for the 2024-25 academic year. This initiative, part of the Self-Financing Scheme, invites Sri Lankan students to pursue a variety of undergraduate and diploma courses in India.

Eligibility and Courses Offered

Sri Lankan students, excluding those holding PIO/OCI cards or classified as NRIs, are eligible to apply. The courses available under this scheme include:

  • Undergraduate Courses: MBBS, BDS, BE, B.Tech, B.Pharm, B.Arch
  • Diploma Courses: Diploma in Technical fields and Diploma in Pharmacy

Specific Requirements

For MBBS/BDS:

  • A minimum of 50th percentile in the NEET exam.
  • At least 50% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English in the G.C.E. A/L examination.

For BE/B.Tech and Engineering Diplomas:

  • At least 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • A minimum of 50% in English in the G.C.E. A/L examination.

For B.Pharm and Diploma in Pharmacy:

  • At least 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • A minimum of 50% in English in the G.C.E. A/L examination.

For B.Arch:

  • Mandatory clearance of the aptitude test as prescribed by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi.

Application Process

Interested candidates can collect application forms from the Education Wing of the High Commission of India in Colombo. Forms are available on working days between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Applicants need to present their G.C.E. O/L and A/L certificates along with their birth certificates to obtain the forms.

Submission Deadline

All completed application forms, along with the necessary supporting documents, must be submitted to the High Commission by June 18, 2024.
