Air Seychelles and SriLankan Airlines Forge Codeshare Partnership

Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, and SriLankan Airlines, the flag carrier of Sri Lanka, have joined forces in a strategic codeshare partnership. This collaboration promises enhanced connectivity for travelers between the idyllic islands of Mahe and Colombo, opening up access to over 20 destinations across Asia and Australia.

The newfound alliance between Air Seychelles and SriLankan Airlines comes as a boon for travelers seeking seamless journeys between the two picturesque nations. With over 20 destinations now within reach, including sought-after cities like Sydney, Melbourne, and various key hubs in India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, passengers can expect expanded travel options and smoother transitions between flights.

One of the highlights of this partnership is the facilitation of journeys from Colombo to Mahé, enabling SriLankan Airlines passengers to experience the allure of the Seychelles archipelago with ease. Through the activation of this codeshare agreement, both airlines will affix their codes to each other’s flights, streamlining the booking process and allowing baggage to be seamlessly checked through to the final destination. This means travelers can enjoy the convenience of a single booking, regardless of whether they are flying with Air Seychelles or SriLankan Airlines.

The benefits extend beyond mere convenience. With the integration of their networks, Air Seychelles and SriLankan Airlines aim to enrich the travel experience for their customers by providing greater flexibility, choice, and accessibility. Whether booking through online travel agencies or local agents, passengers now have access to an expanded array of destinations and seamless connectivity between the two airlines’ routes.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in the evolving relationship between Air Seychelles and SriLankan Airlines. Building upon the foundation laid by an initial interline agreement signed last year, which introduced several Southeast Asian cities to the Seychellois market, the codeshare agreement represents a deeper commitment to collaboration and mutual growth.

Sandy Benoiton, CEO of Air Seychelles, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the success of the Colombo service since its launch nine months ago. He emphasized the value of the codeshare in further solidifying the relationship between the two airlines and extending the convenience of seamless travel to even more passengers across Asia and Australia.

Richard Nuttall, CEO of SriLankan Airlines, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the significance of expanding their codeshare network and presence in the African region. He emphasized the commitment to providing customers with an ever-expanding range of African destination options, underscoring the long-term vision driving this partnership forward.

Flights under the codeshare agreement are now available for booking, with operations set to commence in April 2024. As travelers eagerly anticipate the opportunity to explore new horizons with greater ease and convenience, the collaboration between Air Seychelles and SriLankan Airlines promises to unlock a world of possibilities for those embarking on journeys between the Seychelles and Sri Lanka, and beyond.
