Born on May 15, 1964, Vice Admiral Tripathi embarked on his naval journey in 1985, joining the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy. A distinguished alumnus of institutions like the Sainik School, Rewa, and the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, he has honed his skills through advanced courses at prestigious establishments including the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington and the Naval Command College at the United States Naval War College.

Throughout his career, Vice Admiral Tripathi has commanded various Indian naval ships, including the Trishul, Vinash, and Kirch, showcasing his exceptional leadership abilities. His roles have been diverse, ranging from Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet to Director of Naval Operations and Principal Director of Naval Plans in New Delhi.

Notable milestones in his career include serving as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Policy and Plans), Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Fleet, and Commandant of the Indian Naval Academy. As Vice Admiral, he has held pivotal positions such as Director General of Naval Operations, Chief of Personnel, and Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.

Vice Admiral Tripathi’s contributions to the Indian Navy have been recognized with prestigious honors including the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Nausena Medal. His dedication and excellence have also been acknowledged internationally, with accolades such as the Thimmaiah Medal and the Robert E Bateman International Prize.
