A man is in hospital in a serious condition after he was allegedly assaulted in a terrifying early morning home invasion in Sydney’s west.
Emergency services raced to a property on Sturt Ave in Georges Hall just before 4am on Monday following reports a man had suffered injuries in the alleged break-in.
Police believe three men forced entry to the granny flat at the rear of the home.
“The intruders confronted the occupant, a 35-year-old man, before assaulting him and ransacking the home,” police said on Monday afternoon.
“The man has been taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.
“A crime scene has been established, which is being forensically examined by specialist officers.
“Detectives have commenced an investigation into the incident.”
Photos from the scene show a heavy police presence, with the property taped off.
Officers were seen carrying evidence bags away from the scene.
