Colombo, Mar. 29 (Daily Mirror) – D. S. Senanayake College Skipper Gaviru Senhas and Malitha Perera smothered the Mahanama College bowling attack as they ran riot to help them post a formidable 370 for four on day one of the 18th Battle of the Golds Big Match played at the SSC Grounds in Maitland Place today.

Gaviru made a quick-fire unbeaten 189-ball knock of 200 that included 27 boundaries and two sixes while Malitha cracked 118 in 152 balls with 16 boundaries and the pair shared a record 248 runs for the second wicket after Gaviru and Pesandu Weerasinghe gave them a sound start of 55 runs.

For Mahanama, Chamika Heenitigala and Skipper Duvindu Ranatunga were the successful bowlers sharing four wickets between them.

Mahanama in their turn were given a sedate start by the openers Dulnith Sigera who remained unbeaten on 48 and Kavindu Amameth with the pair putting on 40 runs before they ended the day on 94 for two having faced 17 overs.
