Sri Lanka consults EU team on data protection action plan

ECONOMYNEXT – The Colombo Stock Exchange closed down on Tuesday, data on its site showed.

The broader All Share Index closed down 4.99 points, or 0.05 percent at 10,638 while the S&P SL20 Index closed up at 3,068 points, up 0.05 percent, or 1.49 points.

Turnover was at 815 million.

Sectors that attracted investor interest were Capital Goods (270mn), Food, Beverage and Tobacco (175mn), and Banks (101mn).

Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka Plc contributed 72 million to the day’s turnover; the share closed up at 27.00.

Lanka Milk Foods (CWE) Plc also saw high volumes traded, contributing 57 million to the day’s turnover. The share closed up at 23.60.

Sunshine Holdings Plc, which announced an equity infusion into its fully owned subsidiary Sunshine Tea (Private) Limited, saw its share price close down at 54.00.

DFCC Bank Plc, which announced both a scrip dividend and a cash dividend, closed down at 78.50

Positive contributors to the indices in the day included Melstacorp Plc (up at 86.80), John Keells Holdings Plc (up at 191.50), and Richard Pieris and Company Plc (up at 20.50).

There was a net foreign outflow of 8 million. (Colombo/Feb20/2024).
