Interpol Issues ‘Red Notices’ for 42 Sri Lankan Criminal Suspects Abroad

Interpol has issued ‘Red Notices’ for 42 Sri Lankan criminal suspects believed to be hiding overseas, with connections to underworld activities and drug offenses.

Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chandana D. Wickramaratne revealed the issuance of ‘Red Notices’ during the inauguration of a new police checkpoint in front of the Colombo National Hospital. He assured that efforts, in collaboration with Interpol, are underway to bring back these suspects to Sri Lanka to face justice.

Wickramaratne also announced the repatriation of a key associate of notorious underworld figure Salindu Malshika, commonly known as “Kudu Salindu,” who was returned to Sri Lanka earlier. The associate’s interrogation aims to unveil further details about drug syndicates operating within the country.

Additionally, the Acting IGP pledged to repatriate a police officer who aided underworld figure Nadun Chinthaka, alias “Harak Kata,” in his failed escape from custody. He reiterated the commitment to conduct the nationwide anti-drug operation ‘Yukthiya’ rigorously to combat drug-related crimes effectively.
