Warner smashes 50 in final Test innings as series cleansweep beckons

[ad_1]

Here we go. David Warner and Usman Khawaja come down the race. Khawaja waits and lets his great mate enter the SCG on his own. He’s met warmly by Shan Masood and all the Pakistan players. Khawaja takes strike to off-spinner Sajid Khan.

First ball: Tossed up outside off and Khawaja has a flash. Khan beats the outside edge.

Second ball: Shorter this time and Khawaja is jumping across his stumps to deaden the turning ball.

Third ball: More conventional this time, spinning ball coming in from off and defended into the offside.

Fourth ball: Same again.

Fifth ball: Looks to be an arm ball. Khawaja onto the back foot and blocking it into the covers.

Sixth ball: Pakistan bring an extra fielder into silly mid-off, to go with a slip and short leg. And Khawaja’s been given LBW!

Back and across to a skidding ball, rapped on the pads. It’s a good shout. Khawaja reviews and umpire’s call sends him on his way. Pitching just in line on off stump, it was a full ball and just, and we mean just, hitting enough of the stumps to uphold the decision.

Could we have a thriller on our hands? Warner faces up to Hamza now with Labuschagne at the other end.

Australia: 1-0 (Warner 0*, Khawaja 0) need 130 runs for victory.
