National weather: Rain for 7 days in NSW and Victoria, Fire burns in Perth, WA

East coast residents are set to get a drenching of rain this weekend, while on the other side of the country temperatures soar and a massive fire burns.

A fire has burnt more than 1800 hectares in Perth’s northern suburbs, with at least 18 homes lost, since Wednesday.

The temperature in the WA capital city climbed to 33C on Friday, and is expected to reach 39C over the weekend.

Powerful winds are forecast to promote increased fire danger over the weekend, with gusts of up to 40km/h possible on the early afternoon on Saturday.

An emergency warning to evacuate was issued about 2.30pm for parts of Jandabup, Melaleuca, Wanneroo and Mariginiup.

“You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes,” the Emergency WA website said.

Meanwhile on the east coast, a weekend of significant rainfall is forecast to hit parts of northern Queensland, coastal NSW, the ACT, Victoria and South Australia.

Here’s the weather outlook in every state.

NSW
Up to 10mm of rain is forecast to fall in Sydney on Saturday, with the chance of a thunderstorm in the late evening.

A high of 25C is expected during the day and wind gusts may reach up to 25km/h in the late morning and afternoon.

By Sunday, the temperature will climb to 29C, with showers in the morning and a chance of thunderstorm developing in the afternoon.

The rainy weather will stick around until Friday next week, with up to 45mm likely to fall over Tuesday and Wednesday.

Victoria

The next seven days are forecast to bring rain to Melbourne with the chance of thunderstorm on Friday evening.

The temperature will climb on Saturday to 26C before another possibly severe thunderstorm on Saturday afternoon.

Up to 8mm of rain could fall.

Queensland

Showers and warm temperatures are forecast for Brisbane over the weekend.

A high of 26C on Saturday with a slight chance of shower. On Sunday, the temperature will rise to 28C and more showers.

Up north in Cairns, the temperature will get to 32C on Saturday with a slight chance of showers.

The showers are expected to persist until mid-next week.

WA

The western capital city is expected to soar to 39C on both Saturday and Sunday, creating dangerous fire conditions.

Wind gusts of up to 40km/h are expected on Saturday and could intensify by Sunday afternoon.

SA

In Adelaide, a high chance of showers is forecast for Saturday.

This will ease by Sunday with just a minor chance of showers in the city’s southern suburbs and the hills.

The temperature is not expected to exceed 22C over the weekend.

Tasmania

A very high chance of showers is forecast for Hobart over the weekend.

Up to 19mm of rain could fall over Saturday and Sunday.

ACT

The nation’s capital is likely to get experience showers and a possible thunderstorm on Saturday.

A high of 25C is forecasted on Saturday, and will climb to 26C by Sunday.

Northern Territory

A hot and wet weekend is ahead for Darwin, with a top of 33C expected on Saturday and Sunday.

Up to 14mm of rain will likely fall over the weekend.
