Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on 3 May for an official three-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health sector.
During his visit, he is expected to hold high-level discussions with Sri Lanka’s Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa and Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath.
The talks will focus on expanding collaboration between the two countries in key areas such as pharmaceuticals, medical education, healthcare services, and academic exchange programmes. Both sides are expected to explore new opportunities to enhance cooperation and knowledge sharing in the medical field.
As part of the official itinerary, the Russian delegation will visit major healthcare and academic institutions in Sri Lanka, including the National Hospital of Colombo and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Colombo.
The Ministry of Health noted that discussions are expected to conclude with potential agreements that could further strengthen long-term collaboration between the two nations in healthcare development.
The visit is seen as a significant step in deepening diplomatic and sectoral ties between Sri Lanka and Russia, particularly in the medical and scientific fields.
