Harris Hints at Another Bid for the Presidency in 2028

Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris said on Friday that she is weighing the possibility of entering the 2028 presidential race, after previously serving as the Democratic Party nominee in 2024.

Speaking at an event hosted by the National Action Network founded by Al Sharpton in New York City, Harris responded to a direct question about her political future by saying she is considering another run.

“I might… I’m thinking about it,” she said, drawing enthusiastic reactions from the audience.

Harris noted that any decision would depend on who she believes would be best positioned in 2028 to serve the American public effectively.

She previously served as vice president under Joe Biden but was defeated in the 2024 election by Donald Trump, who secured both the popular vote and the Electoral College. Before her time in the White House, Harris held roles including U.S. senator and California attorney general, and she had also sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020.

If she decides to run again, Harris may encounter hurdles, as some voters have signaled a preference for fresh leadership within the Democratic Party following her 2024 loss.

The gathering also featured several figures seen as potential future contenders, including Josh Shapiro, Pete Buttigieg, and JB Pritzker.
