Some people don’t just enter a room — they transform it. Onella Muralidharan is undoubtedly one of them.
Born on January 3, 1999, in Bangladesh to Sri Lankan parents, Onella’s journey is one shaped by movement, identity, and self-discovery. At just eight years old, she migrated with her family to Australia, eventually growing up in Melbourne — a city that would become the backdrop to her rise in the media and fashion world.
From the outside, Onella’s presence is striking. But what truly sets her apart is the quiet power she carries — a confidence rooted in authenticity. Born with vitiligo, a condition that causes loss of skin pigmentation, Onella never allowed it to define her limitations. Instead, she embraced it fully, transforming what many might see as a difference into a defining strength. Today, it stands as a symbol of her individuality and resilience.
Her entry into the fashion industry was almost accidental. In 2021, Onella entered the Bella Management Unsigned Model Competition on a whim, not even realizing it was a competition — and won. That unexpected victory became the launchpad for a career that would quickly gather momentum.
Since then, Onella has become a recognizable face across some of the world’s most respected brands. She has fronted campaigns for MECCA, Bonds, Sportsgirl, Lululemon, Garnier, and Dermal Therapy — showcasing not only her versatility as a model but also her ability to connect with audiences on a deeper level.
Her presence on the runway has been equally impactful. Onella has walked at major events including Melbourne Fashion Week and Australian Fashion Week, as well as participating in the groundbreaking L’Oréal Paris Walk Your Worth Runway — the brand’s first-ever Australian runway initiative celebrating inclusivity and empowerment.

Beyond campaigns and catwalks, Onella’s voice has reached mainstream audiences through features in Marie Claire Australia and Vogue Australia, as well as appearances on Studio 10 on Network 10 and House of Wellness on Seven Network.
Yet, her talents extend far beyond the fashion world. Onella completed her Interior Design degree from Collarts in Melbourne — a testament to her creative depth and ambition to explore multiple avenues of expression.
In January 2025, she marked a personal milestone, getting engaged to her longtime partner, Ryan — a moment that reflects the balance she maintains between her public life and private happiness.
At her core, Onella Muralidharan is more than a model or media personality. She represents a shift — a move toward a more inclusive, diverse, and honest representation of beauty in modern media. Through her journey, she continues to challenge outdated standards and inspire a new generation to embrace who they are without hesitation.
Her mission is clear: to use her platform to champion diversity in Australian media and leave a lasting impact. And in doing so, Onella proves something powerful — that authenticity isn’t just enough, it’s everything.
