An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 struck Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said on Friday.
Strong tremors were felt in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad, Kabul in Afghanistan and India’s capital New Delhi, according to Reuters witnesses.
The quake was at a depth of 177 km (110 miles), GFZ said.
Residents across Delhi-NCR and parts of north India reported mild tremors after the earthquake struck Afghanistan, prompting many to share their reactions online.
According to official reports, the earthquake occurred at approximately 9:42 pm, with its epicentre in Afghanistan at a depth of 150 km. Tremors were felt across several regions, including Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and surrounding areas.

There have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties. However, many residents said they noticed slight movements inside their homes, such as ceiling fans and lights swaying. Some also shared videos of the experience on social media.
