The vibrant hues of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year came alive on April 11th, 2025, as 3W Global Education (3WGE) hosted its much-anticipated Bak Maha Ulela at the MD’s residence on Vijekumarathunga Mawatha, Colombo 5. This colorful festival, themed “Work Smart > Play Hard – Family First”, reflected the institute’s deep-rooted values of togetherness, gratitude, and celebration beyond the workplace.
3W Global Education (3WGE), a trusted overseas educational consultant in Sri Lanka since 2004, has consistently upheld the value of community and connection within its workforce. The Bak Maha Ulela 2025 kicked off with a traditional and symbolic lighting of the oil lamp, where each attending family member took part. The event was officially opened with heartfelt speeches by Chairman Mr. Ajit Jayemanne and Managing Director Mr. Stefan Moraes, setting the tone for a day brimming with joy and camaraderie.

The celebration featured a variety of traditional Avurudhu games and rituals including Kana Mutti Bindeema, Aliyata Aha Thabima, Kasi Sevima, Egg Pass, Water Relay, Doughnut Pass, Musical Hat Pass, and more. The much-loved Avurudhu Kumariya and Kumaraya contests crowned Dinara Senarath and Ranil Bandara respectively, while the titles of Little Avurudhu Kumaris were joyfully shared by Adrial and Sanu.

One of the festival’s most cherished moments was the cultural performance segment, highlighted by a special dance by the children of staff members and a solo performance by 8-year-old Adrial, which captivated the audience with youthful energy and charm.
After the excitement of games and competitions, guests enjoyed a grand feast that included traditional Avurudu sweetmeats, refreshing cocktails, and a hearty biriyani lunch. The event concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing winners from each event, along with the overall champions – Team Halapayas and Team Aluwas, including MVP recognitions for standout performances. Guests later relaxed with cocktails and a cooling swim, bringing the celebration to a perfect close.

The spirit of 3WGE’s Avurudu celebration was best captured by the heartfelt reflections of participants:
