FIFA has confirmed that ticket demand for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has reached unprecedented levels, with more than 150 million ticket requests received so far. The record-breaking response comes as the Random Selection Draw phase has only reached its halfway point.
According to FIFA, fans from over 200 countries and regions rushed to apply for tickets via FIFA’s official platform after the draw phase opened on December 11. The current ticketing window is set to close on January 13, 2026.
The world football governing body revealed that the tournament is now oversubscribed by more than 30 times, based on verified individual credit card applications. Demand has also surpassed expectations by a huge margin, exceeding three times the total number of spectators who have attended all FIFA World Cup matches since the tournament began in 1930.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the overwhelming response as a testament to football’s global appeal. He said the 2026 FIFA World Cup is shaping up to be the “greatest and most inclusive” edition in history, bringing fans together in a celebration of unity and sport.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will kick off on June 11, with the final scheduled for July 19, across 16 host cities in Canada, Mexico and the United States. The tournament will feature a record 48 teams competing in 104 matches, marking a historic expansion of the world’s biggest football event.
