First published 16 November 2023: The 2025 Audi Q4 e-tron mid-size electric SUV will be priced from $88,300 plus on-road costs – or an estimated $95,000 drive-away – when it arrives in Australia next year.

The Q4 e-tron debuted in Europe in 2021, but will not become available to Audi in Australia until three years after its global unveiling, in late 2024 – allowing it to benefit from the latest model updates available overseas.

It slots between the small Audi Q3 and mid-size Audi Q5 in size – and is about 150mm shorter bumper to bumper than a Tesla Model Y, Australia’s top-selling electric vehicle.

Four variants will be available, across two model grades – the rear-wheel-drive 45 and all-wheel-drive 55 Quattro – and regular ‘wagon’ and sleeker Sportback body styles.

The Q4 45 e-tron is priced from $88,300 plus on-road costs in either body style – while the 55 Quattro is priced from $108,500 plus on-road costs in regular form, or $109,500 plus on-road costs as a Sportback.

The entry-level Audi Q4 is nearly as expensive as a top-of-the-range Tesla Model Y Performance ($92,020 plus on-road costs and order/delivery fees in November 2023, but now $82,900) and priced similarly to the smaller Volvo XC40 Recharge twin motor ($85,990 plus on-roads) and larger BMW iX3 M Sport ($89,100 plus on-roads).

Australia will receive the updated Q4 e-tron introduced in Europe, with more power, a longer driving range and revised suspension.

Powering the Q4 45 e-tron is a 210kW/545Nm electric motor on the rear axle, good for a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.7 seconds, and capable of DC fast charging at up to 135kW.

Meanwhile the Q4 55 e-tron Quattro uses dual electric motors with 250kW and 679Nm, for a claimed 0-100km/h time of 5.4 seconds, and 175kW DC fast charging.

Both models use a 77kWh (usable; or 82kWh gross) lithium-ion battery packs which in Europe enable up to 562km in the most energy-efficient Q4 45 e-tron.

The Audi Q4 e-tron measures 4590mm long, 1865mm wide, and 1613mm tall in regular form – 90mm longer than a Q3 but about 100mm shorter nose to tail than a Q5 – with 520 litres of boot space with the rear seats up. The Sportback quotes 535L of boot space.

Audi Australia says, as standard, the 45 will come standard with LED headlights, a digital instrument display, power tailgate, leather-appointed seats, heated front seats, tri-zone climate-control air conditioning, and metallic paint.

The 55 e-tron Quattro is set to add an upgraded instrument cluster, matrix LED headlights, the S Line exterior styling pack, front sports seats, progressive steering, and colour ambient interior lighting.

Features such as lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera and park assist plus are standard on the 55 but optional on the 45.

The 2025 Audi Q4 e-tron is due in Australian showrooms in late 2024.
