2023 Volvo XC40 recalled due to indicator fault

[ad_1]

Volvo’s small SUV has been recalled due to a software issue which could cause the left indicators to fail.

Volvo Australia has recalled 2513 examples of its 2023 Volvo XC40, due to a software malfunction that could cause the left indicator to stop working.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to a software issue, the left turn indicator lamp may not illuminate as intended.

“If this occurs a warning will appear in the instrument cluster to alert the driver that the indicator is not operational. The left indicator functionality can be reset by switching the indicator off and on again.

“If the left turn indicator lamp does not illuminate as intended, other road users would be unable to identify if the vehicle is turning.”

A full list of vehicle identification numbers for the 2513 vehicles involved in the recall can be found here.

Volvo Australia says the indicator issue will be remedied through a downloadable over-the-air software update for earlier vehicles among those affected.

The company says vehicles running “software version 2.13.3 or later” already have the fix installed.

Owners will be able to download the update to fix the issue themselves, by tapping settings, system and software updates on their vehicle centre touchscreen.

Those that are unable to update the vehicle remotely are advised to contact their local authorised Volvo retailer to book an appointment, where the vehicle will be updated at no cost.
