Charlie and Cole’s retro wedding in Los Angeles was funky, creative, and full of thoughtful details. They had such fun pops of color, from Cole’s mustard yellow suit with embroidered flowers to the bright pink plastic yard poodles they placed by their welcome sign. They worked with Cory LaNora to channel the 1960s theme with a laidback DIY ceremony Charlie’s childhood backyard and a colorful, lush reception at LA’s Grassroom. Judging by all the joyful (and beyond stylish) guest photos Shalom Imaginative shared with us, every single person had a blast at their cool, vintage-inspired celebration!
Cute 60s showtime welcome sign!
Family and friends helped them build and decorate a Chuppah and fill the backyard with paper lanterns and flowers for the ceremony. The paper flowers were also a part of their engagement, so it felt special to reuse them for the wedding.
Charlie wore a vintage lace wedding dress she snagged off of eBay along with Lisa Says Gah bow heels, and Cole sported the cooooolest embroidered groom’s suit from Addicted Bespoke.
Like we said, guests understood the assignment!
Bows, babies breath, and hearts were a few fun trendy details the couple placed throughout Grassroom’s plant filled space.
Colorful candles and glassware adorned tables featuring minimalist floral arrangements by Under New Mgmt that included a rainbow of dahlias and spider gerbera daisies.
Creative menu idea!
The couple collect vintage matchbooks, so they had the idea to make their own custom matchbooks for guests to take home. They placed them in candy jars around the venue, and of course, saved a few for their own collection.
DTLA portraits on film… A must!
Charlie changed into her mod 60s mini dress for drinks and dancing.
They also enlisted a tarot card reader (a little nod to their wedding date of Friday the 13th), which was a hit with guests… Not to mention a great spot for photos.
The bride, on a favorite moment… Our favorite part of the day was looking around during dinner and seeing all of our loved ones in the same room. The most special thing about a wedding is that it’s a chance to have all your favorite people come together. Spending moments soaking that it in was a highlight for us. In a lot of ways, our wedding was a community effort. Friends and family contributed so much of their time, creativity and skills to help us. Through the process, we learned to lean on the people in our life and to not be afraid to ask for help. Our day felt even more special after thinking about all the wonderful people who helped make it happen.
Their kitschy heart wedding cake featured their two little kitties on top.
They rounded out the night with an ice cream truck and pretzels for all! Congrats to Charlie + Cole!
